Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the coordination of the Njernda Medical Clinic.
- Assist clients to participate effectively in their health care by:
- providing health information
- maintaining regular contact which may include making home visits.
- This may include providing transport to and from services
- referring to Family Support and other services
- making appointments (including hospital orientation and admission);
- Liaise with GP’s, Echuca Regional Health Service and other agencies as required.
- Supervise the collection of data in conjunction with Echuca Regional Health.
- Function as a team member in close liaison with other health staff.
- Participate in internal and external meetings contributing to policy and program development when required.
- Attend and participate in general staff and planning meetings as required.
- Represent the service at conferences and public speaking engagements as required.
- Understand and actively promote the philosophy and need for Aboriginal community-controlled services.
- Always ensure the confidentiality of all information.
- Act always in a professional manner in accordance with the policies and practices of the Corporation.
- This position is responsible for clinical governance within the Medical Practice which is responsible for patient safety and quality care.
- Maintain the register for slips, lapses, and incident register
- Responsible for the policy on Clinical handover
- Patient feedback
Key Selection Criteria:
Applicants must possess:
- Recognised qualifications and experience in Nursing.
- An understanding and working knowledge of issues related to Aboriginal Communities.
- A commitment to and an understanding of Aboriginal cultures and values.
- A proven ability to effectively communicate with Aboriginal people.
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- A current Victorian driver’s license.

- Appointment is subject to a satisfactory Police check & Working with Children check.
