The Education Practitioner is primarily responsible for ensuring that staff working within Berrimba are supported to grow and develop their own education and learning skills who are working face to face with Berrimba children. Supporting staff to successfully implement training provided to Berrimba staff through school readiness funding and outside services Allied Health professionals. The Education Practitioner ensures that best practice models are achieved in everyday practices in room planning and interaction with children and staff.

Accountabilities Guiding and supporting service delivery through providing specialist knowledge and support to all staff within Berrimba. Work collaboratively with all staff within Berrimba, offering consultation, reflection and thinking spaces around education and creating supports for children. Attend forums, conferences, discussions and meetings as requested by management. Participate actively in professional development opportunities. Ensure staff are supported to access core training and assist in identifying areas where professional development is required. This can include arranging for training opportunities to be brought to Echuca, consultation collaboration with other Education Practitioners and specialists and identifying appropriate areas of development for the Berrimba teams. Offer reflective practice and guidance for staff at Berrimba. Help to create and maintain a system of staff reflection and consultation within the Berrimba Services. Support education staff reflect and revise plans and behavioural tasks for attachment-informed classrooms and childcare. Provide effective leadership to all staff within the Berrimba and the Early Years team: Modelling behaviours integral to values. Leading and supporting staff to achieve their potential while maximising their contribution to the education and health of the Echuca Communities. Establish and maintain effective working relationships, ongoing communication and successful negotiations with all key stakeholders. Support values that respect historical and contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures so that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are recognised as having a special connection with the State. While at work, comply with OH&S requirements as noted in the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 Opportunities for personal and professional development which will add to Berrimba’s overall capabilities.
1. Current unrestricted Victorian Driver’s license, National Police and Working with Children Check.
2. Demonstrated knowledge, interest and commitment to the health and wellbeing of the local Aboriginal community.
3. Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering promotional material to external and internal stakeholders.
4. Experience working within a community-based health and wellbeing setting and with multidisciplinary teams.
5. Demonstrated commitment to social justice and advocacy on behalf of clients.
6. Demonstrated experience in time management and an ability to prioritise your workload.
7. Demonstrated experience in financial management, excel, word and other IT tools that support this role.
Qualifications & Experience
A relevant Education degree and significant experience in the community services sector or qualifications and significant experience in the education sector
This is an ongoing, part time position. The position is currently based at 94 Hare Street. Terms and conditions of employment will be included in an Employment Contract.
The successful applicant will be required to undergo satisfactory pre-employment checks, including providing at least two professional referees, completion of a medical declaration, Police Records Check, Working with Children Check, Victorian Driver’s License, and proof of identify and qualifications.
