Njernda Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a dedicated and culturally strong Aboriginal Family‑Led Decision Making (AFLDM) Convenor to support Aboriginal children, young people and families involved with the child protection system.


This role plays a critical part in ensuring Aboriginal voices, culture and self‑determination remain central to planning and decision‑making, working closely with families, Elders, respected persons and partner agencies.


Please note, this is an identified position, open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants only.

About the role

As our AFLDM Convenor, you will convene and co‑facilitate Aboriginal Family‑Led Decision Making meetings, supporting families to participate meaningfully in decisions that impact their children and futures.


This role blends facilitation, advocacy, engagement and coordination, making it ideal for candidates with experience in:


  • Child protection and family services
  • Facilitating strengths‑based, family‑centred processes
  • Working alongside Aboriginal families and community
  • Building collaborative relationships across service systems


You will play a key role in promoting culturally safe practice and supporting positive outcomes for Aboriginal children and families.

About you

  • Must identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person (Identified Position)
  • Qualification in Social Work, Community Services or a related field, or significant sector experience
  • Experience convening or facilitating decision‑making meetings
  • Experience working within child protection, family services or community services
