Job description

Lead and empower services that keep Aboriginal families strong.


Provide leadership and cultural guidance across programs that strengthen families, prevent child removal, and support safe, connected homes as Njernda’s Family Services Coordinator.


Working closely with the Family Services Manager, this role oversees daily operations and ensures services are delivered in a culturally safe, trauma-aware, and family-centred way.

About the role

  • Coordinate day-to-day operations across Family Services programs, including Family Violence, Early Help, Intensive and Integrated Family Services, and Accommodation Support
  • Supervise and support staff and trainees, fostering a positive, culturally safe workplace
  • Strengthen culturally safe, trauma-informed practice and service delivery
  • Support continuous improvement, compliance, and program development
  • Build strong partnerships with Aboriginal and mainstream agencies to improve outcomes for families

About you

  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity is essential for this role
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Social Work, Community Services, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of family support, child protection, and early intervention frameworks
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and achieving program outcomes
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills
