Njernda Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a passionate and community‑focused Koorie Kids Engagement Worker to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people to improve engagement in education, wellbeing, and extracurricular activities.
This role sits within Njernda’s Youth and Wellbeing Unit and plays a vital role in working alongside children, families, schools and community to strengthen education outcomes and support 'Closing the Gap' targets through culturally safe, strengths‑based practice.
Please note, this is an identified position, open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants only.
About the role
As our Koorie Kids Engagement Worker, you will deliver the Koorie Kids Engagement (KKE) Program, providing mentoring, case management, and culturally appropriate activities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people in the Echuca–Moama region.
This role blends youth mentoring, program delivery, family engagement and education advocacy, making it ideal for candidates with experience in:
- Youth or community support
- Education engagement and attendance support
- Culturally safe, Aboriginal‑led practice
- Working in partnership with families, schools and community organisations
You will work closely with children and young people to build confidence, strengthen identity, and support positive pathways in education and beyond.
About you
- Must identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person (Identified Position)
- Qualification in Youth Work, Community Services, Social Work, Education Support, Human Services or experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated experience supporting Aboriginal children and young people in community or education settings
