Supporting young people to build strength, resilience and connection.
Njernda Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a Youth Worker to deliver culturally safe, trauma-informed alcohol and other drugs (AOD) and mental health support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people aged 12–25.
This role is part of a structured 12-week program focused on improving social and emotional wellbeing, reducing substance misuse, and supporting positive long-term outcomes.
Working within a holistic framework, the Youth Worker combines clinical approaches with cultural healing, case management and community engagement to support young people on their journey to wellbeing.
Please note, this is an identified position, open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants only.
About the role
- Deliver culturally safe, trauma-informed AOD and mental health support (individual and group-based)
- Undertake intake, assessment and case management, including ongoing support and follow-up
- Support young people to strengthen social and emotional wellbeing and reduce risk factors
- Work alongside families, community and partner organisations to provide coordinated care
- Facilitate youth programs, outreach activities and community engagement initiatives
About you
- You have experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- You understand trauma-informed practice and its impact on young peeopl
- You bring strong case management, communication and relationship-building skills
- You are organised, able to manage documentation and reporting requirements
- You are passionate about supporting young people to achieve positive life outcomes
