This program provides early comprehensive assessments, brokerage and increased support to kinship carers to ensure placement stability, child safety and developmental wellbeing.

Working as part of the Out of Home Care (OOHC) Team, this role focuses on assessing kinship placements, supporting kinship carers, and ensuring children remain connected to their culture, family and community.

About the role

As our Kinship First Supports Worker, you will provide assessments, brokerage and targeted support to kinship carers and the children in their care.

  • Trauma-informed, culturally safe practice
  • Case management and care coordination
  • Aboriginal community-controlled health or family services
  • Working respectfully with children, families and community

You will play a key role in strengthening placement stability and ensuring Aboriginal children maintain strong connections to culture, family and community.

About you

  • Recognised Social Work Degree or Diploma of Community Services, with a primary focus on child development, human behaviour, family dynamics and/or impacts of trauma
  • Experience working in kinship care, child protection or family support services
  • Knowledge of the local Aboriginal community and the cultural connection needs of Aboriginal children and young people
