Njernda Aboriginal Corporation is building a casual pool of Certificate III qualified Educators at Berrimba Childcare Centre, to back-fill staff when training, absent or on leave. You'll support Room Leaders to implement age-appropriate developmental programs, helping create a culturally safe environment where children and families feel supported.
About the role
Reporting to the Early Years Manager, you'll work alongside Room Leaders and the Berrimba Childcare Centre team, stepping in across rooms as needed.
- Assist Room Leaders to implement an age-appropriate developmental program based on children's individual interests and needs, using the Early Years Learning Framework
- Ensure the provision and maintenance of a rich, safe and actively supervised learning environment
- Prepare and supervise play and learning activities, and guide positive social interactions between children
- Record and maintain observations catering for each child's individual interests and developmental needs
- Support the participation of children with extra needs in the program
- Help build responsive relationships with families and specialist services to share children's learning and development
- Assist in supporting, mentoring and supervising student placements
- Work collaboratively with staff and management to create a culturally safe environment for families and children

Selection Criteria - these must be addressed
To be considered, your application must include a separate document responding to each of the numbered criteria below.
- Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
- First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certification
- Demonstrated experience working in an early childhood service
- Understanding of and respect for Aboriginal culture, and a commitment to supporting culturally safe practices for Aboriginal children and families
- Understanding of the National Quality Framework (NQF) and Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)
- Ability to support children's physical, emotional and social wellbeing
- Confidence in supervising children during play, meals, rest and transitions
- Skill in engaging children in age-appropriate, play-based learning activities
- Understanding of developmental milestones in early childhood
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to work under the guidance of Diploma-qualified educators or the Room Leader
- Understanding and application of hygiene practices, including nappy changing and meal assistance
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with children and families
- Sound understanding of child safety principles and mandatory reporting obligations
Desirable: A demonstrated interest in further study or upskilling (e.g. working towards a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care), and the ability to contribute to educational documentation under guidance.
