Job description

Culturally Safe Support. Real Alternatives. Lasting Change.

Njernda Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a Diversion Case Manager to deliver the Koori Women's Diversion Program (KWDP) in Bendigo, a community-facing role within Njernda's Koori Justice and Diversion Program. You'll provide voluntary, culturally safe and tailored diversion support to Aboriginal women aged 18 years and over who are at risk of contact with the criminal justice system, developing intensive and holistic case plans from a strengths-based, self-determination approach.

This is a designated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander position under a special measure in accordance with section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic). This position is for a female applicant, given the nature of the role providing gender-specific support to Aboriginal women.

About the role

Reporting to the Youth and Wellbeing Manager, you'll work closely with courts, Corrections Victoria, Victoria Police, the Sheriff's Office and local support services across justice, housing, AOD and family violence sectors.

  • Develop, implement and regularly review intensive, holistic case plans that address the underlying drivers of offending behaviour and reflect self-determination
  • Provide culturally safe, gender-specific support to Aboriginal women referred by courts, Corrections Victoria, host organisations, Victoria Police or other community and legal services
  • Support participants to access local programs and services, including housing, AOD, mental health and family violence supports
  • Advocate on behalf of, and in collaboration with, participants regarding justice matters, including court support and liaison with lawyers
  • Provide community education on justice system processes and obligations, and assist participants with outstanding fines and warrants
  • Manage brokerage funds in line with Funding Agreement requirements, supporting material aid, accommodation, transport and cultural strengthening activities
  • Participate in RAJAC and LAJAC meetings, and maintain accurate client and expenditure records using the KJU reporting tool

Why join Njernda?

At Njernda Aboriginal Corporation you'll be part of a values-driven, community-controlled organisation, guided by our values of Respect, Accountability, Resilience, Advocacy and Cultural Sensitivity.

  • $91,000 annual salary (SCHADS Level 4.1) + Super
  • Generous salary packaging benefits (not-for-profit)
  • Victorian Ambulance Membership reimbursement (for you and your family)
  • Supportive team environment and access to supervision
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities
  • Genuine work–life balance and the benefits of a regional lifestyle
